Together, We Build Freedom

Changing Lives,
One Ramp at a Time

Building Community Transforming Lives Accessing the World

SAWs® is a nonprofit, volunteer organization founded in 2003. Originally started in Indianapolis, our organization serves clients across Indiana, as well as Arizona and Virginia. We specialize in building wooden wheelchair ramps for low-income, permanently disabled individuals. With the support of our donors and volunteers, lives are changed one ramp at a time and in less than six hours we transform a client’s life FOREVER.

Our 2024 Builders Club

Support SAWs®

Because SAWs® does not charge low-income, permanently disabled persons for their ramps, we depend on the generosity of individuals, churches, corporations and nonprofit organizations to support our efforts.

Your donation will allow us to continue our mission of providing life-changing results for our clients and our volunteers.
Whether you like to build ramps, make phone calls to prospective recipients or prepare and serve refreshments for our build teams.
A SAWs® Affiliate is a group of volunteers who come together to build wheelchair ramps for those most in need in their area.

Referring Agency Partners

SAWs® is in the process of building a strong referral network consisting of healthcare providers and nonprofit agencies that already work with our future clients and are more familiar with their circumstances.

Servants at Work (SAWs) extends heartfelt thanks to the Owen County Community Foundation for supporting our mission in 2025 through a Rapid Response Grant. This $1,000 grant made it possible for our local project manager and a team of dedicated volunteers to build an urgently needed ramp for an Owen County resident this July. Because of this support, a neighbor and his caregiver now have the safe, reliable wheelchair access they need to get in and out of their home with ease.Your generosity strengthens communities — one ramp, one family, one act of compassion at a time.Thank you, OCCF! ... We’re excited to share that SAWs received a $4,000 grant from the White Family Foundation at the Community Foundation of Hancock County Because of this generous support, four Hancock County neighbors received safe, sturdy wheelchair ramps — including the Greenfield project featured in these photos. 💚These ramps aren’t just lumber and screws. They’re freedom — freedom to get to appointments, enjoy time outdoors, and live safely at home. We’re so grateful for partners who believe in building mobility and dignity right here in our community.Thank you, @celebratehancockin ...
